| Samuel Coetzer
| Mr. Coetzer joined the Corporation as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer in March 2011. Mr. Coetzer has over 24 years of international mining experience, having held increasing levels of responsibility in various mining companies including Kinross Gold Corporation, Xstrata Nickel, Xstrata Coal South Africa, and Placer Dome, with particular emphasis on integration and streamlining of operations. From September 2010 until joining the Corporation, he was the Senior Vice President of Red Back Integration at Kinross Gold Corporation. Mr. Coetzer consulted to Kinross Gold Corporation from February 2009 and was appointed in May 2009 as Senior Vice President, South American Operations for Kinross Gold Corporation, serving in this role until September 2010. In this role, Mr. Coetzer was responsible for overseeing the Kinross assets in Brazil, Chile and Ecuador. From June 2007 to October 2008, Mr. Coetzer was the Chief Operating Officer of Xstrata Nickel, and from March 2006 to June 2007, he was the Chief Operating Officer of Xstrata Coal South Africa. Mr. Coetzer also has significant experience in Africa, having been with Placer Dome Inc.’s South African and Tanzanian operations, where he was Managing Director - South Africa and the Executive General Manager – Tanzania, from 2003 to February 2006. |
| Mr Sipho Nkosi
| Mr. Nkosi is South African and holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of South Africa and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Massachusetts in the eastern United States. He has an extensive background in the mining and power industries. Mr. Nkosi is the CEO of Exxaro Resources Limited. Prior to this, Mr. Nkosi was one of the founders of and CEO of Eyesizwe Coal (Pty) Ltd, which merged with Kumba Resources to form Exxaro. Prior to Eyesizwe Coal, Mr. Nkosi was Country Manager of ABB Alstom Power (SA), having previously worked with Anglo Coal and Ingwe. In 1992, Mr. Nkosi joined Ingwe as the Marketing Manager responsible for international coal marketing. He was Export Marketing Co-ordinator in the international marketing division of Anglo Coal from 1986 to 1991. Mr. Nkosi has been the President of the Chamber of Mines of South Africa since 2008, being an Executive Council member of the Chamber of Mines since 2006. Mr Nkosi is the CEO at Exxaro Resources Ltd. | Bheki Khumalo joined Great Basin Gold Limited in October 2011. Mr. Khumalo began his career as a Clinical Psychologist from 1997 to 2003. | Mr. Ball has been a member of our Board since June 2004. Mr. Ball has held various senior leadership positions with the Brait Group since 1998 and has been the chief executive officer of Brait since October 1, 2006. Mr. Ball has led the raising and governance of a number of Brait’s private equity funds and is responsible for certain of its private equity investments. Prior to assuming his current position at Brait, Mr. Ball served as joint deputy chairman of Brait from 1998 to March 2000. | Steven B. Pfeiffer, Age 65. Mr. Pfeiffer has served on our Board of Directors since September 2009 and served on the Board of Directors of Iridium Holdings from 2001 to September 2009. Mr. Pfeiffer has been a partner in the law firm of Fulbright & Jaworski LLP since 1983 and has served as the elected Chair of the firm’s Executive Committee since 2003. He previously served as the Partner-In-Charge of the Washington, D.C. and London offices, and headed the firm’s International Department. Mr. Pfeiffer is also a Non-Executive Director of Barloworld Limited (a public company, on whose compensation, nominating and general purposes committee he serves) in South Africa, Chairman Emeritus of Wesleyan University, a Trustee of The Africa-America Institute in New York, a Director of Project HOPE in Washington, D.C., and a Director of the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Inc. Mr. Pfeiffer received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Wesleyan University and studied at Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar, completing a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Masters degree in jurisprudence. He also holds a Masters degree in Area Studies (Africa) from the School of Oriental and African Studies of the University of London and holds a Juris Doctorate degree from Yale University. Mr. Pfeiffer served as an officer on active and reserve duty in the U.S. Navy. |
