Dr. Al Barwani was on the Board of Directors of the National Bank of Oman (1997-2005) and Taageer Investment & Leasing Co. (2001-2005) and Shell Oman Marketing Co. SAOG (2001-2006). He has also been Regional Vice President of the International Associations of Drilling Contractors. He is also an active member of Oman-India business association. Dr Mohamed is Chairman at Oman Air.
