UAE - Mubasher: flydubai, the Dubai-based airline, has announced the return of its Boeing 737 MAX aircraft to the passenger service fleet starting from 8 April.

This step follows the airline’s fulfillment of the requirements of the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) to ensure the safe return of the aircraft to service.

flydubai's fleet of 14 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, and four of its MAX 8s and one of its MAX 9s will rejoin the passenger service fleet after receiving the regulatory approval.

The remaining nine MAX aircraft will resume their passenger flights over the coming months.

Scheduled on 8 April 2021, the first flight by one of the carrier’s MAX aircraft will be operated from Dubai International (DXB) to Sialkot International Airport (SKT).

The return of the Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, which was grounded globally in March 2019 following the death of 346 people in two crashes in five months, came following a 20-month review.

The CEO at flydubai, Ghaith Al Ghaith, commented: "The MAX is integral to flydubai’s fleet and we are confident in the aircraft and its capabilities."
