WB mulls $500m financing for Upper Egypt

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt's Minister of International Cooperation Sahar Nasr said Monday that the World Bank's (WB) executive board will examine a credit facility worth $500 million for supporting Upper Egypt on 16 September, according to a press release.

This fund will aim at raising the capacity of local units to provide key services and infrastructure for the area, which will create sustainable job opportunities and develop a number of industries in Upper Egypt governorates, the minister added after her meeting with regional director of the World Bank Asaad Allam on Sunday.

In December 2015, the World Bank agreed to finance Egypt's economic program with $3 billion in three years.
