Cairo – Mubasher: Vodafone Egypt and Etisalat have officially sealed a $693 million agreement with the Egyptian government to purchase fourth-generation (4G) mobile phone service licenses, according to a statement on Sunday.
Vodafone will pay $335 million for the operation of 4G networks and $11.262 million for a virtual fixed-line license, while Etisalat will pay $535.5 million and $11.26 million for the licensees of 4G network operation and virtual fixed-line.
Both Vodafone and Etisalat are respectively granted 42.5 and 40 megahertz of 4G spectrums.
Earlier, Orange Egypt signed an agreement with the telecom regulator to acquire the license at $495 million.
