US OKs $1.4bn in military equipment to KSA

Riyadh – Mubasher: The US Department of State approved the sale of military training and equipment worth more than $1.4 billion to Saudi Arabia, as part of the $110 billion arms deal signed by US President Donald Trump in May, according to Reuters.

The sales include a radar system by Lockheed Martin Corp to enhance border security by locating the source of incoming threats, and a training programme for the Royal Saudi Air Force and other Saudi forces domestically and abroad, Reuters said, citing the Pentagon as saying.

About $662 million of the approved deal’s total value were allocated for radars, ammunition, trucks, and technical support, while $750 million were spent on flight and English language trainings, as well as military education.
