Cairo – Mubasher: The UK will provide GBP 1 million in financial support through the World Health Organization (WHO) to Egypt to support the government’s efforts in dealing with the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the Middle East News Agency (MENA) reported on Monday.
The financial support will finance measures that help prevent and respond to the pandemic threats and provide healthcare workers with personal protective equipment (PPE), the UK Ambassador to Egypt Geoffrey Adams said.
The WHO will also use the funding to provide online training to scale up the country’s preparedness and response to COVID-19, helping healthcare workers better detect, prevent, respond to, and control the pandemic.
In April, Egypt sent medical gowns to the UK to help healthcare workers tackle the coronavirus.
