UAE's inflation down 2.6% in August

UAE – Mubasher: The UAE's Consumer Price Index (CPI) declined by 2.59% to 106.5 points in August 2020, compared to 109.3 points in the same month of 2019.

The UAE's inflation rate has continued to decrease for the 20th month in a row, according to the latest statistics by the Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Authority (FCSA).

Lower inflation is driven by a decline in the prices of some segments during August, including the housing, water, electricity, and gas by 3.01% and furniture and household goods by 2.11%.

On a monthly basis, the UAE's CPI went down 0.14% in August, when compared to July.

It is noteworthy to mention that in January 2019, the UAE's inflation rate fell for the first time since 2017, registering a 2.4% drop amid lower demands.
