UAE’s Jebel Ali named ME best seaport for 21st year

Dubai – Mubasher: DP World’s flagship Jebel Ali Port has retained its leadership position by winning the Best Seaport – Middle East Award for the 21st year in a row at the prestigious Asian Freight, Logistics and Supply Chain Awards (AFLAS) 2015 in Hong Kong.

The accolade was received on behalf of the global marine terminal operator by Rashid Abdulla, senior vice president and managing director, DP World Asia Pacific Region.

“We are delighted by this recognition in Asia and proud that as our flagship Jebel Ali Port continues to lead by example. Being crowned as the Best Seaport – Middle East for 21 years in a row is an achievement for Dubai and the UAE as a whole, demonstrating that visionary leadership, commitment and performance excellence continue to drive our national development,” said Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, chairman, DP World.

The top official added that focus on strengthening Jebel Ali’s role as the gateway to the Middle East, Africa and the Indian Subcontinent is paying dividends, expressing commitment to contribute even more to the UAE’s economy and Dubai’s status as the premier regional trading hub.”

DP World recently announced the start of construction work on the brand new Container Terminal 4 at Jebel Ali, which will deliver new capacity of 3.1 million TEU in Phase 1 by 2018, taking the port’s total capacity to 22.1 million TEU.
