UAE’s Hope Probe successfully arrives to Mars

UAE - Mubasher: The UAE’s Hope Probe, the first Arab interplanetary mission, has successfully entered Mars orbit on Tuesday evening, 9 February 2021, the Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported.

The Probe arrived at Mars after facing the most critical part of its mission, the Mars Orbital Insertion (MOI), in which the Probe should reduce its speed from 121,000 km/h to 18,000 km/h to be captured by Mars' gravity.

The Probe travelled 493 million kilometres in a seven-month journey in space to enter Mars.

The Hope Probe is the first of three exploration missions to reach the Red Planet this month, as the missions of China and the US to Mars are set to arrive on 10 February and 18 February, respectively.

It is noteworthy to mention that on 20 July 2020, the UAE's Hope probe was launched from Japan's Tanegashima Space Centre aboard a Mitsubishi H-IIA rocket at 1:58 am (UAE Time) to study the Red Planet.
