Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: The surplus reserves of UAE domestic banks increased 21% or AED 7.4 billion by the end of June 2017, according to new statistics by the Central Bank of the UAE.

These surplus reserves reached AED 42.8 billion by the end of June 2017, against AED 35.4 billion by the end of December 2016.

Month-on-month, the UAE banks' surplus reserves slightly rose to AED 42.8 billion, from AED 35.9 billion.

"The growth in the UAE banking sector surplus reserves reflects the banking system's strength, despite the slowdown in the international and regional economy," capital market analyst Mohamed Alzofery told Mubasher.
