UAE – Mubasher: The total investments of the banks operating in the UAE jumped by 9.5% to AED 448.1 billion in October 2020, compared to around AED 409.2 billion in the same month of the previous year.
On a monthly basis, the UAE banks increased their investments by about 1.7% in October, compared to AED 440.8 billion in September 2020, according to the latest data by the Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE).
Debt securities have accounted for 62.8% of the UAE banks' total investments to record AED 281.4 billion in October.
The UAE banks' investments in debt securities rose by 11.9% year-on-year (YoY) from AED 251.5 billion in October 2019.
Meanwhile, the UAE banks have invested AED 112.7 billion in securities held to maturities during October 2020, representing around 25% of the total investments.
