UAE – Mubasher: Trade exchange between the UAE and the US rose by 16% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2019, data by the US Department of Commerce showed.
The UAE-US bilateral trade valued at $5.94 billion in the three-month period ended 31 March 2019, versus $5.12 billion in Q1-18, data revealed.
The American imports to the GCC state stood at $4.98 billion in Q1-19, up 25% from $3.99 billion in the same quarter of 2018, according to data.
Meanwhile, the UAE’s exports to the US fell by 15% to $957.6 billion in the January-March period of this year, compared to $1.13 billion in the year-ago period.
The US trade surplus jumped by 41% in Q1-19 to $4 billion, versus $2.86 billion in the prior-year period.
