Two state-run banks mull EGP 500m loans for micro enterprises

Cairo – Mubasher: Banque Misr and Banque du Caire are in talks over EGP 500 million in loans for micro businesses.

The Small and Medium Enterprise Development Authority (SMEDA) has injected around EGP 3 billion in microfinance in the period between April 2017 and June 2018, head of the central sector of microfinance at SMEDA Nevine Badr El-Din said in a press conference on Tuesday.

SMEDA is looking to pump around EGP 200 million into financing non-governmental organisations’ (NGO) microfinance businesses in fiscal year 2018/2019.

The authority had injected nearly EGP 100 million into NGOs in the past fiscal year.
