Riyadh – Mubasher: The benchmark index of the Saudi Stock Exchange (Tadawul) closed the week ended 2 August on a low note.
The Tadawul All Share Index (TASI) shed 114.2 points or 1.4% to close the week at 8,253.5 points.
TASI’s market capitalisation fell by SAR 26.8 billion ($7.14 billion), or 1.35%, to close at SAR 1.964 trillion ($523.7 billion).
Turnover on TASI averaged SAR 3.7 billion ($982.6 million) per session, up 16.59% from last week when the average per session was SAR 3.16 billion ($842.8 million).
Meanwhile, total turnover amounted to SAR 18.4 billion ($4.9 billion) during the week, up 16.7% from the previous week, when turnover was SAR 15.8 billion ($4.2 billion).
Traded volume averaged 137.3 million shares, up 11.15% from last week’s 123.5 million shares per session.
Sixteen of TASI’s sectors ended the week down, led by utilities which retreated 7.3%, followed by healthcare with 6.3%.
Three leading sectors were among the decliners, including materials with 1.28%, banks and telecommunications with 1.18% and 0.31%, respectively.
Only four sectors ended the week on a positive note, led by media with 4.3%, while long durables gained 1.07%.
