TASI, Nomu end Thursday in red

Riyadh – Mubasher: The Saudi Stock Exchange (Tadawul) closed Thursday in the red after its main Tadawul All Share Index (TASI) went down 0.4% or 29.41 points to 7,870.87 points.

By the end of the last session of this week, TASI’s traded volume stood at 191.58 million shares, against 175.74 million shares on Wednesday, while trading value increased to SAR 4.89 billion, from SAR 4.32 billion.

The utilities sector levelled down 2.6%, while the retailing segment dropped 2.2%.

Likewise, the food and staples retailing sector fell 1.4%, followed by the materials and telecommunication services sectors with 0.9% and 0.45%, respectively.

On the other hand, the media sector inched up 0.9%, followed by food and beverages with 0.7%, and banks with 0.06%.

The Mediterranean and Gulf Insurance and Reinsurance Company’s (Medgulf) stock was the worst performer after falling 4.6%, whereas Saudi Arabia Refineries Company’s (SARCO) stock jumped 9.9%.

Saudi Basic Industries Corp’s (SABIC) stock acquired TASI’s liquidity with SAR 938.75 million, while Dar Al Arkan Real Estate Development Company’s stock led in terms of traded volume after 40.89 million shares were exchanged.

In the meantime, the benchmark index of the Nomu-Parallel Market, NOMU, retreated 1.4% or 42.79 points to 2,951.50 points.

Nomu’s trading volume grew to 162,370 shares on Thursday, against 75,670 shares on Wednesday, while liquidity surged to SAR 5.02 million, from SAR 1.29 million.

Abo Moati for Bookstores’ stock fell 5.9%, whereas Al-Omran Industrial Trading’s stock added 1.2%.

The stock of Thob Al-Aseel Company took over Nomu’s liquidity after generating SAR 1.86 million, while Arab Sea Information System’s stock was the most active in terms of traded volume after 45,250 shares were exchanged.
