Suez Port collects EGP 3.4bn customs, taxes in May

Cairo – Mubasher: Suez Port has registered EGP 3.43 billion of customs duties, taxes, and other charges last May, Ahram Gate reported.

The total value of taxes and customs duties collected from the imported certificates at the port reached EGP 810.46 million in May this year, while the value-added tax (VAT) amounted to EGP 2.26 billion.

Other charges imposed on the imported goods totalled EGP 337.86 million during the month.

Furthermore, the port exported goods at a combined taxes and customs value of EGP 7.29 billion, while the charges stood at EGP 1.80 million.

Last September, Suez Port collected EGP 3.84 billion worth of customs duties, taxes, and other charges.

It is worth noting that Ain Sokhna Port collected EGP 2.71 billion worth of taxes, customs duties, and other charges in May.
