Suez Customs collects over EGP 3bn customs, taxes in May

Cairo – Mubasher: Suez Customs collected EGP 3.065 billion in customs duties, taxes, and other charges during May.

The total value of taxes and customs duties collected for imported goods at Suez Port reached EGP 817.250 million during the fifth month of 2021, according to a report released by the Egyptian Customs Authority on Sunday.

The value-added tax (VAT) recorded EGP 1.978 billion, while other charges imposed on these goods amounted to EGP 255.606 million. 

The imported good included strategic commodities, production inputs, and general cargo, such as yarn, textiles, electric appliances, receivers, plastics, petroleum products, and cars and spare parts.

Moreover, the port exported goods that included sand, juices, cosmetics, and poultry feed at a total value of EGP 5.686 million. Charges collected for the exported goods reached EGP 7.534 million.
