Cairo – Mubasher: The Suez Canal Authority (SCA) decided to temporarily suspend traffic on Thursday as tugboats still work on refloating the Ever Given container ship that blocked the waterway, the authority’s Chairman, Osama Rabie, said in a statement.
The Panama-flagged massive container vessel, operated by the shipping company Evergreen, ran aground sideways across the waterway on Tuesday.
The 224,000 tonne-vessel, which has a length of 400 metres and a width of 59 metres, was hit by a sandstorm and high winds gusting at about 40 knots, Rabie added.
