Cairo – Mubasher: Suez Canal’s revenues increased by 16% in the USD during December, backed by the large projects, said Suez Canal Authority’s chairman and manage director, Mohab Mameesh.
In December, ships’ number that passed through the canal levelled up 12.2%, net cargoes grew 13.1%, revenues in the USD jumped 15.8%, and revenues in EGP went up 11.7%, compared to the same month in 2016, Mameesh added.
From January until December 2017, the number of ships increased 4.6%, net cargoes grew 7.1%, revenues in the USD rose 5.6%, and revenues in EGP surged 89.8%, from the year-ago period.
In December, navigation via the canal hit a record after by 74 ships crossed from both directions with goods at a total cargo of 5.2 million tonnes on a daily basis.
