Riyadh – Mubasher: The Saudi Arabian Airlines (Saudia) has launched, on 16 December, the Saudi Arabian Logistics (SAL) Co., the airline’s new independent firm for the purpose of being the main cargo gate as well as the main ground handling and logistics services hub in all airports across Saudi Arabia.
SAL aims to invest in the kingdom’s strategic location, not only because it is the heart of key international trade routes between Asia, Europe, and Africa but also as a unique logistical getaway between the East and the West and also worldwide, according to a press release on Monday.
The inauguration ceremony took place in Riyadh and was attended by top-tier Saudi officials, including the governor of Customs Authority, Ahmad Al Haqbani and the president of the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), Abdulhadi Al Mansouri among others.
Commenting on the launch, SAL’s CEO, Omar Talal Hariri, said, “SAL will improve the quality of logistics operations and support the kingdom’s vision towards transforming the country into a global logistics hub handling all types of cargo and shipping operation.”
Moreover, the logistics infrastructure will be enhanced by SAL, including all types of cargo platforms, warehouses and equipment as well as e-commerce cargo and shipping facilities, the Saudia director general, Sami Sindi, concluded.
