Saudi unemployment rate down to 11.3% in Q2-21

Riyadh – Mubasher: The unemployment rate of all residents in Saudi Arabia, of 15 years old and above, declined to 6.6% at the end of the second quarter (Q2) of 2021, compared to 9% in the year-ago period, according to a report by the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) on Thursday.

The unemployment rate among Saudi citizens dropped to a 10-year low of 11.3% in Q2-21, compared to 11.7% in Q1-21 and 15.4% in Q2-20, data showed. 

Among Saudis, the male unemployment rate fell to 6.1% in Q2-21 from 7.2% in Q1-21, while the female unemployment rate rose to 22.3% from 21.2%. 

The labour force participation rate of all residents decreased to 60.8% in the April-June period, compared to 61.1% in the January-March period.

As for Saudis, the labour force participation rate edged down to 49.4% in Q2-21 from 49.5% a quarter earlier.
