Saudi logs 4.4% balance of payments surplus in Q4-17

Riyadh – Mubasher: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia successfully achieved a surplus in its balance of payments in the final quarter of 2017 versus a deficit of 0.9% in the same period of the year before.

The kingdom logged a 4.4% or SAR 29.38 billion ($7.83 billion) surplus in its balance of payments for Q4-17 versus SAR 5.92 billion in deficit in Q4-16, data released by the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) showed on Sunday.

Saudi Arabia’s gross domestic product (GDP) reached SAR 670.12 billion between October and December, up from SAR 636.57 billion in the year-ago period.

Previously, data by GASTAT indicated a balance of payments surplus of 5.86% in Q3-17.
