Riyadh – Mubasher: NCB Capital Company said local cement sales in Saudi Arabia stood at 4.75 million tonnes in November 2020, an annual increase of 16.5%, driven by the Ministry of Housing’s programmes.
Clinker exports soared by 85% year-on-year (YoY) to 490,000 tonnes, while clinker inventory fell for the seventh consecutive month, standing at 38.4 million tonnes.
On a monthly basis, local cement sales inched up by 0.7% in November, recording the second-highest monthly sales since January 2017.
Cement exports stood at 179,000 tonnes last November, compared with 225,000 tonnes in October 2020 and 192,000 tonnes in November 2019.
Clinker production was down by 0.8% monthly to 4.3 million tonnes whereas cement production increased by 1.1% monthly to 5 million tonnes.
Domestic market share
Western region companies gained 86 basis points (bps) monthly to 25.4%, while the Central region lost 160 bps to 27.8%. Saudi Cement market share increased by 66 bps to 10.8%, while Yamama Cement market share declined the most by 177 bps to 7.6%.
