Saudi inflation rises 2.1% in June – GASTAT

Riyadh – Mubasher: Saudi Arabia's Consumer Price Index (CPI) grew 2.1% year-on-year in June, the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) said.

CPI’s growth was attributed to a 10.4% increase in transport section prices, while tobacco section prices jumped 9.8%, GASTAT added.

On the other hand, prices in clothing and footwear section tumbled 8%, while prices in housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels fell 1.4% last month, compared to the previous month.

On a monthly basis, the kingdom’s inflation inched up 0.1% to 107.4 points in June, from 107.3 points during May.

Month-on-month, prices in food and beverages, miscellaneous goods and services sections inched up 0.7% for each in June, while prices in clothing and footwear section edged up 0.6%.
