Riyadh – Mubasher: The Saudi Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture has offered an investment opportunity worth SAR 120 million to the private sector to produce potato seeds in the kingdom.
The opportunity will see the local potato production increasing and seeds' import decreasing. This comes in a bid to achieve potato self-sufficiency while providing job opportunities, according to a statement on Sunday.
Moreover, the step comes within the ministry’s efforts aimed at achieving sustainable agricultural development and producing virus-free potato seeds. The kingdom imports potato seeds worth SAR 75 million.
