Riyadh – Mubasher: US-based National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has announced that a Saudi engineer and his team won the best proposition among other competitors to join its microgravity research project.
The Saudi team is working on designing a device that can stop the force of gravity, in other words launch zero gravity, for more than 21 days, Saudi Gazette reported late Saturday.
The project will help biological engineering scientists and engineers to analyse organic samples under a weak gravitational forces, Mishaal Saeed Al-Shihrani, the Saudi engineer, said.
“The device will be sent to space to compare results achieved on earth. The project is in its final stages and will be delivered at the end of 2017,” Al-Shihrani added.
A mechanical engineer and former employee of Saudi Aramco, Al-Shihrani is not the first Saudi national to join NASA. Mishaal Ashemimry was the first Saudi woman to join US space agency.
