Riyadh – Mubasher: Saudi Arabia’s domestic tourist trips grew 13% year-on-year to 11.3 million during the summer vacation with a total spending of SAR 13.5 billion ($3.6 billion), the Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage (SCTH) said in a statement.
Incoming tourist trips reached 2.3 million during the same period, according to Tourism Information and Research Centre (MAS), which is a subsidiary of the SCTH.
The kingdom’s income from incoming tourists, excluding religious trips, amounted to SAR 8.7 billion.
Eastern Province topped the GCC nation’s attractive destinations to the incoming tourists with 45%, followed by Riyadh with 27, and Makkah with 16%.
Spending of tourists who left Saudi surpassed SAR 30.5 billion.
