Riyadh – Mubasher: Sales transactions through points of sale (POS) across Saudi Arabia rose since the beginning of the year until 26 December by 24.1% yearly to reach SAR 348.96 billion, compared with SAR 281.19 billion in the year-ago period.
Food and beverages dominated SAR 61.26 billion on POS purchases over the period ended on 26 December, an annual surge of 66.8%, as shown by data from the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA).
Meanwhile, the number of transactions through POS increased by 75.3% to stand at 2.79 billion deals.
During the period from 20 to 26 December, POS sales volume grew by 1.6% on a weekly basis to SAR 7.6 billion.
On the other hand, the number of deals through POS dropped by 1.3% weekly to 72.23 million transactions.
The food and beverage sector dominated the highest value on POS transactions with SAR 1.15 billion, followed by restaurants and cafes with SAR 993.86 million.
