Riyadh - Mubasher: Saudi Arabia recorded a 78% year-on-year (YoY) rise in overall merchandise exports to SAR 320.5 billion in the fourth quarter (Q4) of 2021, compared to SAR 180 billion.
Higher exports are driven by the increase in oil exports whose share in total exports jumped to 75.1% in Q4-21 from 67.5% in the year-ago period, according to the latest data of the Saudi General Authority for Statistics (GaStat).
The Kingdom's non-oil exports amounted to SAR 79.8 billion in the October-December period in 2021, up 36.3% from the same period in 2020.
In Q4-21, China was the main destination for Saudi Arabia's exports with SAR 55.3 billion, followed by India with SAR 34 billion and Japan with SAR 33.3 billion.
In the meantime, the Kingdom's merchandise imports rose by 10.1% to SAR 151.1 billion in Q4-21 from SAR 137.2 billion in Q4-20.
In December 2021, Saudi Arabia's overall merchandise exports hit SAR 106.3 billion, higher than SAR 65.3 billion in December 2020.
