Saudi Arabia's investments abroad hit SAR 4.439trn in Q2-21

Riyadh - Mubasher: Saudi Arabia's international investment assets increased by 4.1% year-on-year (YoY) to SAR 4.439 trillion during the second quarter (Q2) of 2021, compared to SAR 4.264 trillion.

On a quarterly basis, Saudi Arabia's international investments rose by around 2.7% from SAR 4.323 trillion in the first quarter (Q1) of 2021, according to the latest data by the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA).

The international investment assets include direct foreign investments abroad, portfolio investments, other investments, and reserve assets.

Saudi Arabia registered SAR 501.47 billion direct investments abroad in Q2-21, up 7.8% from SAR 465.22 billion in the year-ago period.

Meanwhile, Saudi portfolio investments, including equity and investment fund shares and debt securities, jumped by 16.8% to SAR 1.358 trillion in Q2-21 from SAR 1.163 trillion in the same period of 2020.

The investments in equity and investment fund shares hit SAR 1.107 trillion in Q2-21, while investments in debt securities declined to SAR 251.45 billion.
