Saudi Arabia calls on global firms to invest in railway

Riyadh – Mubasher: The Saudi Public Transport Authority (PTA) has invited global companies operating in the fields of railway construction and operation to enter long-term strategic partnerships to provide transport services for both passengers and cargo in the Kingdom, according to Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

The invitation was made in cooperation with the Saudi Railway Company (SAR) and the Saudi Railways Organization (SRO), SPA added, noting that services will be offered on the Riyadh-Dammam line and the northern region train.

The services also include the implementation and operation of several future projects, including a bridge that will link the Kingdom’s ports overlooking the Arabian Gulf and the Red Sea.

This invitation is an implementation of Saudi Arabia’s National Transformation Programme (NTP) in the railway sector and achieves the Saudi Vision 2030 for the development of this sector, said Solaiman ben Abdullah El-Hemdan, head of the Saudi PTA.

He added that the initiative will focus on the inclusion of both the private and public sectors.
