Riyadh – Mubasher: Saudi Telecom Company (stc) launched on Tuesday three big data centres simultaneously in Riyadh, Jeddah, and Madinah at an investment of around SAR 1 billion.
The step aims to enable the digital transformation of government and private sectors and enhance the cloud infrastructure of the local digital economy in the fields of artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), and computing and automating, in tandem with the Vision 2030 goals, according to a press release.
Moreover, the centres will provide more flexible and high-speed digital solutions to customers. They include more than 150 ready units, providing bioenergy for information technology at a capacity of 10.8 megawatts (expandable to 16.8 megawatts).
On Monday, stc announced investing around $500 million in cloud services over the upcoming five years in a partnership with eWTP Arabia Capital, one of the largest venture capital funds in the region, and Alibaba Cloud, the digital technology and intelligence backbone of Alibaba Group.
