Mubasher: The Jordan Atomic Energy Commission (JAEC) announced on Friday that it has signed an agreement with Rolls-Royce to conduct a technical feasibility study to build a Small Modular Reactor (SMR) programme in Jordan.
The programme’s purpose is for electricity generation and water desalination, as reported by Jordan News Agency (Petra).
A memorandum was signed by JAEC deputy chairman Kamal Al-Aaraj, and Alan Woods, the director strategy and business development at Rolls-Royce.
Al-Aaraj said that the memorandum opens the door for cooperation between the two sides to identify economic, financial, technical, and safety factors for building the 440-Megawatt SMR programme.
