Cairo – Mubasher: Remittances from expatriate Egyptians rose by 41.2% year-on-year in April to $2.3 billion from $1.7 billion.
Total remittances increased by 48.2%, or $8.5 billion, in the July-April period of fiscal year 2017/2018 to $26 billion, versus $17.5 billion in the same month a year earlier, according to a statement issued by the Central bank of Egypt (CBE) on Monday.
The CBE previously said that remittances from expatriate Egyptians rose by $3.6 billion in the first nine months of FY17/18.
It is worth noting that the Ministry of Finance (MOF) had reported a 24.1% rise in remittances from Egyptian expats in the first eight months of the current fiscal year.
