Qatari market loses 56 points at close

Doha – Mubasher: The main index of Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) closed Sunday’s session at the level of 10,229.02 points after falling 0.55% or 56.5 points.

The All Share Index also fell 0.11% or 3 points to 2,827.51 points, while Al Rayan Islamic Index rose 0.44% or 17.5 points to 3,962.72 points.

Turnover decreased by 19% to QAR 273.95 million ($75.14 million) from QAR 338.11 million ($92.7 million) on Thursday.

Trading volume also declined 9% to 8.85 million shares, compared to 9.72 million shares exchanged last session.

The insurance was the worst performing sector as it dropped 0.86%, stung by Qatar Insurance which fell 1.2%.

The industrial sector rose 0.36%, supported by Qatar Investors Group and Mesaieed Petrochemical Holding which added 10% and 9.5% respectively. Mesaieed was the best performing share.

Mannai Corporation topped losers after falling 3.02% to QAR 90 ($24.69) as 500 shares were exchanged through 4 trades worth QAR 45,200 ($12,398).

Mesaieed was the largest-traded stock with 1.36 million shares exchanged through 461 trades worth QAR 26 million ($7.13 million).

Meanwhile, Masraf Al Rayan made the highest liquidity with QAR 45 million ($12.34 million).

The bourse’s main index declined on Thursday by 1.6% or 166.78 points to 10,285.5 points.
