Mubasher: The Producer Price Index (PPI) of the Qatari manufacturing sector increased 24.3% year-on-year to 67.6 points in April 2018, Qatar’s Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics (MDPS) said on Wednesday.
Month-on-month, PPI rose 2.6% to 67.6 points in April, compared to 65.9 points in March, the ministry's data showed.
The PPI covers four main components, namely mining, which accounts for 72.7% of the index, manufacturing with 26.8% and electricity and water with 0.5%, the report stated.
The mining segment levelled up 3.9% year-on-year in the prior month due to the price increases of “Crude petroleum and natural gas” with 3.9%.
As for manufacturing prices, they went down 0.5% month-on-month during April, topped by basic chemicals with 3.5%, followed by basic metals with 1.6% and dairy products, beverages and cement, which declined 0.1% each.
Similarly, the electricity and water prices witnessed a 0.9% month-on-month drop last month, resulting from a 6.8% price decline in electricity and a rise in water prices by 9.2%.
