Doha – Mubasher: Qatar’s consumer price index (CPI) reached 108.7 points in August, rising 0.2% month-on-month and 2.9% year-on-year, according to the monthly report of the Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics.
The food and beverage group saw a price increase of 1.1% m-o-m, transportation costs also leapt 0.8% m-o-m, prices of clothing and footwear increased 0.4% m-o-m and the miscellaneous goods and services’ prices grew 0.3% m-o-m.
The housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels group also saw a price increase of 0.1% m-o-m.
On the other hand, there was a fall in prices in recreation and culture group by 0.7% m-o-m, restaurants and hotels group by 0.1% m-o-m.
Meanwhile, the tobacco, furniture and household equipment, health, telecom and education groups were flat in August compared to July’s levels.
