QSE surges 91 pts at Monday close

Mubasher: The main index of the Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) ended Monday in the green zone after gaining 1.02% or 91 points to reach 8,995.12 points.

The insurance sector rose 2.32%, and the banks sector increased 1.06% as Qatar National Bank (QNB) and Qatar International Islamic Bank (QIIB) grew 1.93% and 0.92%, respectively.

The industrials sector went up 0.83% after Qatar National Cement Company levelled up 2.47%, followed by Industries Qatar with 1.71%, and Qatari Investors Group with 1.01%.

On the other hand, the telecoms sector lost 0.76% and the real estate sector shed 0.3% as Ezdan Holding Group decreased 1.23%.

Qatar Insurance Company Group was the best performer with 3.3%, whereas Qatar Islamic Insurance led losers with 2.9%.

Trading volume rose to 8.27 million shares on Monday against 5.15 million shares on Sunday, while liquidity soared to QAR 337.73 million from QAR 115.63 million.

Vodafone Qatar’s stock led in terms of traded volume with 2.06 million shares exchanged, while QNB’s stock was the most active in terms of trading value with a turnover of QAR 183.1 million.

Earlier on Monday, the QSE’s benchmark index went up 0.25% or 22.4 points, reaching 8,926.56 points.
