QSE snaps 3-session losing streak Wednesday

Mubasher: The Qatar stock exchange (QSE) closed Wednesday’s trading session in red territory for the third time in a row, pressured by the fall of six sectors.

The general index slipped 60.92 points, or 0.68%, to finish the session at 8,953.40 points.

The QSE’s turnover shrunk to QAR 209.70 million on Wednesday from QAR 222.21 million on Tuesday, while trading volume plummeted to 9.50 million shares, against 10.71 million in the previous session.

The communication sector has led top losers, as Ooredoo and Vodafone Qatar fell 4.56% and 3.14%, respectively.

Likewise, the real estate sector dropped 3.84%, as the sector’s four stocks retreated, topped by Ezdan with a 6.03% drop.

Similarly, the industrial sector shed 0.58%, as Qatari Investors Group fell 4.61%.

On the other hand, the banking sector edged up 0.20% on the back of the heavyweight Qatar National Bank (QNB), which added 0.91%.

Vodafone Qatar’s stock was the most active in terms of value and volume, generating a turnover of QAR 32.9 million after 3.6 million shares were exchanged.
