QSE hovers above 10,000 pts Thursday

Mubasher: The Qatar stock exchange (QSE) ended Thursday’s trading session in positive territory, backed by the growth of all sectors, synchronising with low liquidity.

The general index rose 31.79 points, or 0.32%, to finish at 10,021.96 points.

By the end of the last session this week, the bourse’s liquidity decreased to QAR 185.76 million from QAR 289.16 million on Wednesday, while the trading volume levelled down to 5.31 million shares against 7.59 million in the previous session.

The transportation sector topped the QSE’s risers adding 1.82% as Qatar Navigation (Milaha) and Qatar Gas Transport (Nakilat) grew 4.16% and 0.68%, respectively.

Similarly, the banking sector went up 0.20%, boosted by the increase of Islamic Holding Group and the heavyweight Qatar National Bank (QNB) by 1.30% and 0.27%, respectively.

The industrial sector inched up 0.02% after Mesaieed Petrochemical Holding jumped 1.25%.

By the end of the session, QNB’s stock led the QSE in terms of liquidity with QAR 47.7 million, while Vodafone Qatar’s stock, which went up 0.45%, spearheaded the market in terms of trading volume with 532,040 million shares.
