QSE ends Thursday in red

Mubasher: The Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) closed Thursday with a negative performance after its main index retreated 19.96 points, or 0.19%, to 10,280.95 points.

The bourse’s trading volume stood at 4.06 million shares, down from 7.31 million on Wednesday, while traded value slumped to QAR 135.75 million, from QAR 330.05 million.

The banking sector inched down 0.37% as the stocks of Commercial Bank of Qatar (CBQ) and the heavyweight Qatar National Bank (QNB) fell 2.24% and 0.51%, respectively.

On the other hand, the transportation sector edged up 0.40% after Qatar Gas Transport’s (Nakilat) stock rose 1.95% and Gulf Warehousing Company’s (GWCS) stock levelled up 0.07%.

The consumer goods and services sector grew 0.08% after stocks of Zad Holding Company and Qatar Fuel (Woqod) went up 1.01%, and 0.51%, respectively, while Salam International Investment Limited’s (SIIS) stock slid 3.99%.

Barwa Real Estate’s stock, which added 1.63%, led the bourse in terms of volume and value after 788,400 shares were exchanged, generating a turnover of QAR 29.9 million.
