Omran becomes first Egyptian Vice Chairperson of IOSCO

Cairo – Mubasher: The Chairman of Egypt's Financial Regulatory Authority (FRA), Mohamed Omran, was elected the Chairman of the Growth and Emerging Markets Committee (GEMC), after competing with a Brazilian candidate in an election in which 91 member states voted, according to a statement on Monday.

GEMC is the largest committee within the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO), representing more than 75% of the IOSCO's ordinary membership.

Omran has become the first Egyptian Vice Chairperson of IOSCO in the history of the Egyptian capital market that extends for 130 years.

The senior official will also represent IOSCO in the plenary sessions of the Financial Stability Board (FSB).
