Cairo – Mubasher: The World Food Programme has launched a new programme to help smallholder farmers in Upper Egypt increase their agriculture production under the auspices of the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE).
The National Bank of Egypt (NBE) and Banque Misr agreed to provide EGP 50 million to implement the programme in 40 villages in Upper Egypt targeted by the WFP for strengthening sustainable development through supporting micro-, small- and medium enterprises (MSMEs), according to a statement on Thursday.
About 100,000 smallholder farmers in Luxor, Aswan, Qena, Sohag, and Assiut will benefit from the programme, focusing on women empowerment and agricultural development.
