Mawani currently studies 12 BOT contracts

Riyadh – Mubasher: President of the Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani), Saad Alkhalb, said the authority is currently studying more than 12 Build, Operate and Transfer (BOT) contracts for Saudi ports.

These ports are expected to be offered to the private sector during the next year, Alkhalb said in an interview with Al Arabiya.

This comes after Mawani had granted last year DP World, the Red Sea Gateway Terminal (RSGT), and the Saudi Global Ports a 30-year BOT concession contract to manage and develop the container terminal in Jeddah Islamic Port and King Abdul Aziz Port in Dammam.

Highlighting the successful experiment, Alkhalb said that during the past six months, performance rates were 10% higher than initial expectations of the contracts and indicated that the signed deals were fruitful for both the public and private sectors.
