UAE - Mubasher: Abu Dhabi-based Masdar and Finnish-based Taaleri SolarWind II Fund, investing in utility-scale wind and solar assets, have acquired a 50% stake each in two wind farms in Poland.
The construction of the 37.4 MW Mlawa wind farm in Mazowieckie in northern Poland and the 14 MW Grajewo wind farm in Podlaskie is expected to be completed by the end of 2021, according to a recent press release.
Developed by Vestas and V-Ridium Power Services, the projects have a combined installed capacity of 51.4 MW to generate 192 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of electricity per year.
Funded by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and DNB Polska, the two winds will provide around 90,000 households with electricity.
The Director of Business Development & Investment, Clean Energy at Masdar, Ahmed Al Awadi, said: "As one of the world’s leading renewable energy companies, Masdar is proud to enter into the Polish market, which offers considerable scope for further growth and diversification of our renewable energy portfolio."
Meanwhile, Taaleri Energia’s Managing Director, Kai Rintala, commented: "This investment in Polish wind from the Taaleri SolarWind II fund together with Masdar is underpinned by the increasing demand for clean energy and by a combination of the Contracts for Difference scheme and the availability of commercial offtake contracts in the Polish market."
It is noteworthy to mention that Masdar and Taaleri Energia are partners in the 158 MW Čibuk 1 wind farm in Serbia and the Baynouna Solar Energy project in Jordan.
