Majid Al Futtaim postpones opening of new mall in Sharjah

UAE – Mubasher: Majid Al Futtaim has delayed the opening of its upcoming mall in Sharjah - City Centre Al Zahia to March 2021.

Postponing the mall opening comes amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, which disrupted the world's retail sector, according to a press release on Monday.

This decision will allow the mall's tenants to sufficiently prepare their stores to provide customers with a compelling experience.

Spanning over 136,200 square metres, City Centre Al Zahia will become the largest mall in the Northern Emirates, offering over 360 new and established brands.

The CEO of Majid Al Futtaim, Shireen El Khatib, said: "In line with our delivery commitments, the construction of the mall has run to schedule since we first broke ground. However, in light of the global changes that have impacted the retail industry, we have taken the prudent decision to revise the opening date of City Centre Al Zahia in the best interest of our customers and tenants."

Majid Al Futtaim owns and operates shopping malls and leisure centres across the Middle East, Africa, and Asia.
