Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian minister of finance Maait Mohamed has received GlobalMarekets’ award as the best finance minister in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region for 2019.
In addition, the deputy finance minister Ahmed Kojak and the assistant to the finance minister Khaled Abdel Rahman have also been awarded for chairing the best sovereign debt management unit in MENA, according to a statement on Monday.
This is the second award given to Maait this year as he has been named the African finance minister of the year 2019 by ‘The Banker’.
Under the economic reform programme, Egypt managed to reduce public debt to gross domestic product (GDP) ratio to 90.2% at the end of last June from 108% in the same month in 2017.
The Egyptian government also aims to lower public debt to GDP ratio to 83% in 2020 and 77.5% in 2022.
