Riyadh – Mubasher: Saudi Arabia’s decision to limit remote customer service jobs to Saudi citizens is projected to provide 20,000 new direct job opportunities, Assistant Deputy Minister of the Human Resources and Social Development for localisation, Mohanad Aleissa, told Al Arabiya.
The remote working style is part of the National Transformation 2030 initiatives, Aleissa said, adding that there are comprehensive programmes aimed at increasing awareness of the remote working culture and the ministry has completed many of them.
The number of remote employment agreements for customer service jobs amounts to 43,000 contracts. The new decision is set to create more jobs for Saudis in peripheral cities as well as females.
Earlier, the Saudi human resources minister, Ahmed bin Sulaiman Al Rajhi, issued a ministerial decision to restrict the professions of remote customer service to Saudi citizens in an effort to create more jobs to nationals, help them improve their income level, and contribute to supporting the Saudi economy and gross domestic product (GDP), in line with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
