Kuwait boosts oil output to 2.81m bpd in September – OPEC

Mubasher: Kuwait raised its oil production in September by around 6,000 barrels per day (bpd) in September, a report released on Thursday showed.

The output hike comes in line with the general trend taken by the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and its members.

Kuwait’s crude output reached 2.812 million bpd last month from 2.806 million bpd in August, OPEC’s report showed.

Six other countries hiked their output last month, spearheaded by Saudi Arabia, which raised it production by 108,000 bpd, followed by Libya with a 103,000 bpd increase. Angola came in third with a hike of 57,000 bpd last month, followed by the UAE with 30,000 bpd.

Nigeria and Iraq came in last with 26,000 bpd and 8,000 bpd hikes, respectively, OPEC said on Thursday.

On the other hand, seven countries reduced the daily output, led by Iran with a 150,000-bpd cut, followed by Venezuela, which cut output by 42,000 bpd and Algeria with a decrease of 8,000 bpd. Guinea and Qatar reduced daily production by 2,000 bpd each, while Gabon and Congo trimmed output by 1,000 bpd each.

Generally, OPEC output grew by 132,000 bpd in September to 32.761 million bpd, from 32.629 million bpd in August.
